Assembly line manufacturing has undermined the worth of the individual who takes pride in his job. That excellent wood furniture built by Shaker carpenters in the 19th century: mindless AI robots are doing it cheaper.
Genuine craftsmanship becomes a tranquilizing experience when the mind focuses intently on its subject. However, automation results in discontented workers who resent frequent audits exposing their careless workmanship, and who can’t wait to guzzle a six-pack at their local Pub where Misery finds its raucous company and gripes for higher wages.
