Good question.
As I see it, the issues of old age security, Medicare, BLM, nuclear war, school choice, feminism, transgenderism, and the recent high inflation limiting youth educational opportunities, food, housing, wages, and socialistic freebies have taken precedence over abortion in ‘Christian’ minds.
One can’t reasonably expect a fallen humanity to vote against abortion when so much else is at stake. Over 70 million in the US are depending on social welfare programs for food and shelter, amounting to over $1.3 trillion annually. That’s 20% of the population who are now pro-socialist. Half of Gen-Zs youth support Marxist/socialism, unaware of its zombie pitfalls. They will vote for whichever Party promises to increase their educational benefits and forgive their debts. That happens to be the pro-abortion Democratic Party.
U.S. socialism has reached the irreversible crucial stage of hardcore addiction in its population. The Doom Loop of California’s ‘one-party’ system, stuffing illegally voting immigrants into its voting apparatus, will spread throughout the nation. The 10 million unauthorized or illegal immigrants recently flooding the US border is amplifying this dominant socialistic prejudice in sanctuary Swing States that will be mimicking California’s single-party-dominant Dem-Socialists. Soon other autocratic socialist states will follow suit.
Take for example a 45-year-old ex-con with autism or ADHD who can’t keep a job. She is dependent on her $2000/month SSI check and will readily vote for pro-abortion socialists in a heartbeat since her very existence depends on variious government supports. It’s the only rational response, or else she starves.
No amount of reasoning for the spiritual benefit of this nation will sway her to vote Republican, just as reasoning can’t stop a kneejerk. Any higher education from a relieved student loan only amplifies this derangement syndrome, as she becomes a highly eloquent raging Democrat by default, reeling drunk with twisted hearsay from leftist media Tequila. Even if both candidates were unqualified, unethical, or immoral, it wouldn’t matter; the Lesser of Two Evils principle applies, favoring whoever promises her more freebies.
We’re fed the grand illusion that 2.4 billion genuine Christians walk the Earth. Real Christian disciples are far less than that number: I’m guessing the Pareto Principle applies, so perhaps 20% are devoted but ill-defined as weekly Church-goers. Those Christians who have experienced a true conversion (metanoia) … a personal inward crucifixion and rebirth . . . are fewer still. Many Catholics don’t believe in the Real Presence for they haven’t been taught to discover the Holy Grail in their interior castles. “Who’s St Therese de Avila?”
Besides, mankind’s ancient instinct is to offer precious sacrifice for the continuance of prosperity. What could be more dear than one’s own flesh and blood? The Free Will argument enters here: “We have the right to our bodies and babies. God allows Free Will so we can choose to abort,” say worldly-minded Christians.
Expecting 75 million so-called Christians to vote Republican against their basic instincts is irrational. Many female Christians will vote Democrat for the right to kill the unborn in their womb, convinced “They aren’t a human person yet.” Unaware of deadly consequences, their belly god comes first, conscience be damned.
As Mother Teresa said, “Abortion is a crime that kills not only the child but the consciences of all involved.”
