Louisiana may soon have the most sensible punishment for sexual offenders in the U.S.  It’s either that, or the taxpayer must support an imprisoned rapist for 25 years . That gets too expensive.

“BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Louisiana judges could order surgical castration for people convicted of sex crimes against young children under legislation approved Monday, and if Republican Gov. Jeff Landry signs it into law, the state apparently would be the first with such a punishment.

The GOP-controlled Legislature passed the bill giving judges the option to sentence someone to surgical castration after the person has been convicted of certain aggravated sex crimes — including rape, incest and molestation — against a child under 13.”

But will castration socially prevent rapes in general? Unlikely. We know that capital punishment doesn’t stop murderers.

​Does castration reduce to zero the male sex drive? Yes, a  castrated rapist will no longer experience his libido urge and likely won’t rape again.

“I was castrated in December of 2007. It took about three weeks for my sex drive to subside to a very low level. It is now about 1% of what it once was. I distinctly remember my sex drive being stronger when I was six years old. Erections are very weak at best. The penis does shrink. Anyone who thinks the sex drive in a man continues after castration probably believe that folks without eyeballs can see. I sometimes have to restrain myself from laughter when people tell me it ‘doesn’t work’ to reduce the sex drive. Dumb.“

This is why ancient rulers felt ‘no threat’ when eunuchs maintained their treasuries, led their armies, and guarded their harems. A king entrusted eunuchs with his very life because their castration reduced to zero any desire for wealth, power, and sex.

Christ sought men who would figuratively make themselves eunuchs (not physically) for the sake of His coming kingdom. Those priests reported as saints in the past who willingly accepted celibacy were entrusted with God’s powerful healing gifts and His loving Presence all day and night.

“For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother’s womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it”. Matt 19:12
