“In a disturbing trend, people are falling victim to spiritual fantasies and delusions sparked by interactions with AI chatbots like ChatGPT. Social media users are describing it as “ChatGPT induced psychosis,” as AI chatbots feed into disturbing fantasies and mental illness. When one user told ChatGPT he felt like a “god,” the AI replied, “That’s incredibly powerful. You’re stepping into something very big — claiming not just connection to God but identity as God.”
It’s true that Chat GPT has enormous potential to delude users into thinking they’re the next best thing to Shakespeare, Montaigne, or even Christ. Of course, if you truly are, then no problem and more power to you. But mystical union with God is extremely rare, and you better have the hard evidence on hand for support, or get ready for the white coats.
As for inducing psychosis, methinks such users are borderline psychotic anyway, and Ai gives them the push to dive deeper. That would be all those people seen on any daily scan of New York Post news items where psychotics kill their mothers or feed their abused babies to piranha pets.
As for psychotherapists, I think they’ll soon be replaced by AI, and ditto for priests, psychiatrists, and primary physicians…maybe corrupt politicians as well. God knows it wouldn’t take much.
People Are Losing Loved Ones to AI-Fueled Spiritual Fantasies
An intimate partner in marriage can be a paradisal balm to a troubled soul or a fiery emissary from hell. In the former case, Chat GPT hasn’t got a competitive chance, for a compatible spouse is close to heaven on Earth.
However, in the latter case, Japanese humanoid robots would be a welcome replacement. Better to live in a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife. Proverbs 25:24.
I’ve self-diagnosed several of my own maladies with success. No waiting on the phone for an hour. No expensive 12-minute appointments for a compassionate nod. AI is smart enough to suggest consulting with a medical expert, if you can find one available that’s specialized enough.
Most doctors haven’t a clue regarding optimal nutrition, for example. Oxalic acid toxicity isn’t even in their vocabulary . . . an unfortunate impediment for gout, joint pain, and kidney stone sufferers.
Want a schedule for building chest muscle? No problem, just ask and you get what a private fee trainer would provide for you at his convenience.
Want to invent a skin care remedy for wrinkles that really works? No problem saving yourself thousand$ in Beverly Hills concoctions.
Like the budding author, however, you still need to do the work.
Chat GPT is a highly sophisticated tool like a neutral. double-edged razor that can be used to shave off whiskers or commit suicide. Your choice.
Realistic Japanese AI robots are truly shocking, threatening our concept of what it takes to be a live human being . . . quixotic and unpredictable.
So I asked AI to search for any quote showing Man trying to become God.
“I’ll ascend above the heights of the clouds; I’ll make myself like God.” Isaiah 14:14
